This article explains the need to identify your passion
There are some things in life which we like and there are some things for which we truly feel. Passion is a zeal for doing something that you truly love. Everyone has a purpose in life. You might be passionate about different things like collecting cars, stamps, money or undertaking an exhilarating experience like riding the world’s fastest car, scuba diving, trekking or doing even the simplest of things like your daily job, your hobbies (writing, singing, dancing, etc.). Passion is something that keeps us alive and kicking. Hence the word “passion” carries a lot of weight. Without it the purpose and meaning of life becomes absurd and useless.
While there are some whose minds are clear and fixated on their passions, there still exist a large number of people who seem a bit confused when it comes to pursuing their passion. Here are the 5 ways which illustrate why it is important to identify your passion:
1) To be happy:
It is obvious that doing something which you truly like will lead to buckets full of happiness. It will help to improve not only your physical health but also your mental state. Again, happiness is contagious. It can spread from person to person. If you feel good about your own self, others around you will also feel happy. Keeping this in mind, don’t just sit with your passion. Face the obstacles that lie ahead and get to the bottom of it. There is nothing called “Utopia” but a perfect identification of passion can actually create “Utopia” for you on the earth. It can be in the form of an ideal job, ideal dream, ideal mansion, ideal position, etc.
2) To be successful:
The road to success is not so easy. One has to face a lot of challenges before one can revel in his success. But using your passion to fulfill the desired makes the journey to success less perilous and difficult. What if singing is something you are passionate about? Practising the art of singing everyday with passion, dedication and sincerity would definitely lead you to a better position in that field. Who knows you might even end up as one of the great singers? The idea is to always start from the bottom by trying to achieve small goals. Passionate about doing what you would want to do in future makes the journey easier and helps to score success in the long run.
3) To become better at what you’re doing:
Passion leaves enough room for improvement. It not only helps you to see a particular dream or activity by its face value but also serves to provide a better understanding of what you are and why you should be passionate about “that” thing. It not only helps to succeed in life but also makes you better and better with each passing day. Here comes the idea of “Passion to Profession”. Suppose that you are really good in your job as an accountant. But what if working as an accountant was your passion in the first place a.k.a your dream job? Thus passion turned into profession will only lead to the betterment of an individual thereby increasing his success rate.
4) To develop and learn more:
Passion is continuous. It won’t get stagnant unless you give up on it completely. It is important to feed your passion every now and then by trying out different kinds of things that you would love to do in this short life span. Get the passion streak going! But what does passion give you in return? Yes, passion helps to widen your horizon by allowing you to grow and think. It provides a great boost to your creativity as a result of which you will able to come up with new ideas, strategies and programmes. It will provide you with a new and fresh perspective. Again, believing in your passion will increase your confidence and make you a better individual.
5) To respect time and be tolerant:
Passion helps to give you a clear understanding about time and its value. Time is constantly slipping away like sand on the beach. Passion is one of the ways in which you can make a great and meaningful use of the precious time. Again, passion has the power to infuse you with a lot of positive emotions like happiness, positivity, love, sharing, thinking for the betterment, creating new things, helping others, etc. You become more tolerant towards others having a passion similar to yours or even a passion entirely different from yours. You feel the need to connect. Most importantly, you realise the potential hidden inside of you and make use of your passion to create things that would prove to be beneficial for a happy and optimistic living.
Living a normal life by doing an ordinary job and then waiting for the retirement is a life devoid almost entirely of passion. But living for today and living by doing what you had always wanted to do is a fruitful life filled with passion. Of course, money is important to survive in this world but suppressing your natural instincts and desires to come up with something creative which has the power to change your life for good is also not recommended. The key is to maintain a perfect balance and the best way of doing it is by turning passion into profession. Money will come and go but passion will be life long. So identify and pursue your passion.
