Featured in The Times of India – Internships a Click Away

E-Paper HERE

In an effort to reach out to students and make their student years rewarding and hassle-free, Karthikeyan Vijayakumar and Rohan Prabhakar, two city-based entrepreneurs left their corporate jobs and launched a web portal, www.twenty19.com, recently. The website has been designed primarily to provide students with a list of internship opportunities available across the country cutting across all fields. “Internships play a vital role in shaping a student’s career,” begins Karthikeyan. “We have observed that students are not well-informed about internship opportunities available in the field of their choice. As a result, after the completion of their course, students are not equipped with necessary skill-sets as per the industry’s requirements. This is where we step in. Be it engineering, management, arts or science, we provide information about internships in all possible fields.”

Launched around four months ago, students from over 400 institutions in the country have registered and over 350 companies are offering internships to students through the portal. That apart, the website also contains information about available scholarships, upcoming competitions, fests and project symposiums being organised in institutions across the country. Two weeks ago, the duo also launched a section on training programmes available in the city that range from animation and design to computer and multimedia. “We have partnered with several city-based training institutes that offer a 5% to 40% discount on the course fee for students who register through us. We have been receiving overwhelming responses from students.”

The happy team!

The duo has also been working in tandem with various companies, educational institutions and training centres from across the country to spread the word. “We have huge student networks in the city and whenever an event or fest is being organised, the information is on the website almost immediately. As for internships, when we went to make presentations in various colleges in the city, students were already aware of the portal and many had registered with us long back. We are also in the process of creating campus ambassadors across institutions who can act as a single point of contact for us. Our idea is to help students in identifying the best career path and at the same time, help companies in recruiting the right interns,” says Karthikeyan.

So if you are among the many who is on an information hunt, then log on to www.twenty19.com.
