My Internship in Dream a Dream

Company Name: Dream a Dream - A charitable trust which empowers children from vulnerable backgrounds

Industry: NGO/NPO

My Internship Role: Field Co-Ordinator, Facilitator, Mentor

My key responsibilities: Facilitating the smooth conduct of Learn IT and Creative Skills sessions at diffferent partner schools (for children) and conducting Microsoft Unlimited Potential Classes (in English and Hindi medium) at a Vocational Training Institute for the Poor. I had to do Mentoring too.

The impact that I made: I made students learn with fun and motivated them to keep dreaming and working hard to fulfill those Dreams. I presented my views and ideas to Dream a Dream regarding certain changes to be brought in that could be beneficial for the students.

What I learnt/Skills i picked up: Emotional attachment with the children and students helped me develop qualities of self-consciousness, being happy, doing things without selfishness, and knowing that everyone can bring about a change and be of some help to the others, especially those who need them. They called me “Sir”, I told them- “Ï am a student, I am Learning”.

The best thing about the Internship: “Earning is not that important; Learning and being Helpful is”

Would I recommend an internship in this company to my friends: Yep – this company is awesome!

My Rating of the Internship:

  5. Mentoring/Guidance- 3/5
  6. Networking Opportunity- 3/5
  7. Stipend/Earning – 5/5

  9. Overall Experience – 4/5

My internship Experience in “One Word”: Joyous

My internship “Cloud 9 Moment”: A 13 Year old girl comes running to me after a class and says- “Anna ( Brother) ! Please come in the next Class also OK !”

I got opportunity to work for the good cause that i think every youth of the society can contribute towards. It was good to see volunteers coming from Dell, IBM, Napco, NorthernTrust, etc. to be a part of the cause. A volunteer, Muhor, from Meghalaya is such a self-motivated girl who took up the good work for the benefit to the children and to the society. Self-consciousness, humanity, selflessness, besides, leadership, work-orientation, time-management,etc. are the things that the work provided.
