Probably the driver is not installed properly, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver with the correct package once.

From the programmer point of view the analog pin can be used to read input from the sensor as also generate a PWM which is analog signal for arduino on the same pin.
Hence we can call it as bi-directional from program point of view.
