Well, the gurus of internship did! Fyi: Twenty19 signifies late teens and early twenties, which is the target age group of students in college. Now lets get to the real questions!!
Internships: You can apply to the hottest internship and project openings at start-ups, companies and organizations across roles of your choice.
Opportunities: Get information on the latest opportunities across the world that you can take part in.
An Internship is an opportunity for you to work with a company/organization for a brief period of time (usually ranging between 1month and 6 months) during your semester breaks, or for your final year project or whenever you have free time like during weekends and off college hours.
Internships are more commonly known in India as projects, summer projects, in-plant training, industrial training, apprenticeship, work-experience, part-time job, etc
Opportunity is a name given to various extra-curricular initiatives and activities you can take part in outside your curriculum requirements that will enhance your profile. Internships, campus events, culturals, tech fests, scholarships, NGO/Volunteer opportunities, MNC internships, contests, business plan competitions, part-time jobs, symposiums, conferences, and more.
These are the 2 BIGGEST direct benefits from internships:
1) Gives you a high chance of getting recruited in the same company you interned in
2) Tremendously boosts your chances of getting recruited in any company
There are a great deal of other take aways from internships, which are specific to the role that you intern in. It could be networking opportunity, gaining specific skills, real-time exposure to various functions in a company, mentorship, etc. We recommend you to follow our blogs regularly to get more insights into the world of internships, so that you can make the most of your internships.
Some companies have roles to accommodate interns through the year, so they allow students to apply for internships anytime during the year.
If you are interested in interning in these companies and you think you suit the roles, you may apply anytime during the year.

Yes, you need a resume. Resume is a critical tool based on which employers select students for the internships. If you don’t already have a resume or want to enhance your resume to make it more effective, we highly recommend you to visit www.resume19.com. The site has a thoughtfully designed, simple to use guide for you to create a high-impact resume.
Click on any internship opening and simply click on the “Apply” button at the bottom of the page to apply.
When you apply for an internship:
1) The company gets a notification that you have applied for a particular role in their company.
2) The company will be able to view your profile/resume
The company will then evaluate your profile for the internship.
On the portal, companies follow a two step process for selection:
1. Shortlist: They shortlist a few profiles that are of interest to them. They then assess the profiles. At this stage, they are likely to get in touch with you through phone or email.
2. Select: Based on their assessment, they select candidates to intern with them
Alternatively,
They company may look at your profile and directly contact you through your email or through phone.
In short, please make sure your email-id is active and check it regularly. Also make yourself reachable on the contact number that you have provided.
The “shortlist and selection” page shows the status of internships that you have applied for. The company’s details will appear in the shortlist/selection table even if the company has shortlisted your profile by searching for student profiles.
The details on the “shortlisted” and “selected” tables are just an indication of your internship application status. The real status of your internship application can be obtained by the direct communication that you are having with the company (through email/phone/meeting in person).
It means good going!! It means a company has searched for profiles and is interested in your profile. So, they have shortlisted you even without you having applied to them and they are likely to get in touch with you soon.
Yes. Companies will give you an experience certificate and/or recommendation letter at the end of your internship.
It depends. Presently about 60% of the companies offer a stipend. Many companies also offer rewards in kind like gift cards, offers etc.
Tip: Twenty19 recommends you to choose your internship based on the role and the internship description rather than basing your choice on the stipend. This is because, we have observed that some companies which don’t necessarily offer stipends have invested a great deal of time in very well designed internship programs to maximize your exposure and learning, which are the real take aways from an internship.
Very much. With every internship, you acquire new skills and learn a lot by working on practical projects. Make sure you bring this out on your resume, as every internship that you do adds tremendous value to your resume.
This is a very big misconception! It is very important that you take up internships across various roles and the reason for this is a THUMB RULE you must know:
THUMB RULE OF RECRUITMENT: When companies recruit you for a job, more than anything else they recruit you based on your character and attitude. They want to know how capable you are of doing anything, your willingness to learn, leadership qualities, communication skills, etc. Apart from this, some companies may look for your expertise in some technical skills that may be required for the job.
Every internship that you do, will reflect on a different attribute of your character. It could be your communication skill, or your proactive attitude. In addition, you also pick up essential skills based on which role you are interning in.
So, it is essential for you to take up internships in a variety of roles and not stick only to roles related to your degree/specialization.
Just write us a mail. We’ll be happy to prove you wrong ;)
