sCTF 2012, a Capture-The-Flag style contest, is to be viewed as a security exercise which provides an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Information Security and put them into practice. Hopefully you will have as much fun participating, as we have in organizing the event. The team, on the other hand, consider sCTF as a chance to reach out to all the students out there and build what could hopefully be a vibrant community, sharing the goal of spreading the awareness. sCTF's preliminary round will be online and is on 17/06/2012 and final round will be onsite at Amritpuri along with India's first international security conference - SecurIT. And is focused exclusively on the student community. No prior exposure or experience in cyber security needed to participate. THE ONLY PREREQUISITE FOR THE CONTEST IS URGE TO LEARN!!! We help you if you get stuck!!! |

"There are exciting prizes for the event too! 1st prize - Rs 25,000 2nd prize - Rs 15,000 3rd prize - Rs 10,000 This is the first time we are conducting such a big conference and hence the plans are not yet finalized. Many people are showing interests in conducting workshops, talks etc so it is still evolving. The workshop mentioned in http://securit.ws/studentcontest.html may not happen because there are many others wanting to do workshops. We dont want to mention some of the exciting new things that will be there as it is not finalized. But we just want you to remember things may keep changing a bit as we know more and as more speakers may confirm their participation. The chair of the conference is Andrew S. Tanenbaum, who is popular for his work in Minix and also the author of several computer science text books. There are several other leading security researchers who will be speaking during the conference. We are giving students such a golden opportunity to learn, compete and to meet great names in security. We are also providing travel allowance for the students. " |
