Alcheringa, the annual cultural festival of IIT Guwahati, in its sixteenth reincarnation, like it does every year, promises nothing but the best. Circa this spring, Alcheringa is all set to play host to the best of Events, Music, Bollywood, Fashion, Theatre and Dance, competitiveness unlike any other, a celebration transcending exaltation, & an experience the beholder will not forget anytime soon. Alcheringa is widely regarded as the biggest cultural festival of Eastern India, and is going be held from 2– 5 of Feb'12. Built to cater to the EQ of the youth of the entire country, graced by the presence of entertainers of international repute & maintained by a dedicated team of IITians that work around the clock to mould this phenomenon, Alcheringa has been changing the lives of everyone that it has brought within its recesses. With stellar performances from bollywood biggies like KK, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Shaan, Sonu Nigam to world renowned artists like Pandit Vishvamohan Bhatt, Giuliano Modarelli, Alistair Mcsween & many more. With more than 50 events, 4 exhilarating Pronites, Pro-Shows, 150 colleges participating from all over the country and a massive footfall of about 40,000 people. Alcheringa, being the potential juggernaut of social awareness. In the past Alcheringa , has associated itself with “Bachpan: Setting innocence Free”, has worked for AIDS awareness in the North East region through numerous educational workshops and also continually incremented the numbers of ounces finding those in need with its Blood Donation Drive, promoted North Eastern Tourism, & raising awareness regarding safeguarding the Rhinoceros & the Gangetic Dolphin. In tandem with the theme of this year “Urban Odyssey”, Alcheringa hopes to be reincarnated as a festival of hip-hop, graffiti, dance & trance, of rebellion & compliance, of sky scraping events & absolute street fun. |
