The open west is an annual open competition and exhibition which invites work from national and international artists practising contemporary and conceptual art in the fields of painting, installation, film and sound, textile, photography and ceramics, print, drawing, performance and sculpture. The open west is delighted to announce its 2012 venue as Gloucester Cathedral. The selected artists will show their work throughout the Interior, the Cloisters, the Crypt and the Garth of this important site, which has a reputation for showing ambitious contemporary work. The open west exhibition will be the first of its kind in this space to show work of such diversity of medium and scale. |

Competition accepts artworks in the following mediums:
The entry fee is £32 (approx 50 USD) per application of maximum four pieces of work. |
| Prize Details |
|
An award of £500 (approx 780 USD) will be made and award winner(s) will be offered a further exhibition in 2012 at the Gardens Gallery. The open west also provides the opportunity for artists to participate in an education programme, publishes a limited edition set of artists’ prints, offers an artist’s residency at the Meantime project space and runs a series of artists’ conversations during the exhibition period. |
